Outside Table Please!

On nice days (which are too few and far between) we've been having our breakfast on the deck.

He's getting good at using silverware all by himself too!

Mom's Gonna Be Maaaaaaad!

I came home from work to find this. Needless to say, i was not happy. Someone let him eat a whole chocolate bunny at one time. I was pretty mad at the time, but not too mad to snap a picture.

And what are the white things? Marshmallows? Someone call the bad parent police!

Check Up

We went to the pediatrician for our twelve month check up (even though he is already 14.5 months old...gulp). For the most part everything was fine. Developmentally he is doing very well (motor skills, language, etc). He is tall for his age...at the top of the chart for height. The doctor did tell us that he is at the bottom of the chart for weight, and that we need to work on increasing his calorie intake. He ran a battery of standard tests and some extra to further investigate his weight (food absorption, gluten allergies, etc). I don't think that there is anything serious behind his weight...I just think that he would rather explore the world than slow down long enough for a silly little thing like nourishment.

He got several vaccines (MMR, H1N1, and Flu). Between the shots and the blood drawing it was a hard afternoon for us both.

We've been exploring all kinds of new foods and recipes thanks to my friend who is a pediatric nutrition specialist. I've also received tons of ideas from my Mommy friends via Facebook.

Check Please!

We tried to go out to dinner on Friday night, but Cash is officially way too crazy for such activities. He climbs on the table, sticks his fingers in EVERYTHING he's not supposed to have (ex: salsa & guacamole), and escapes for the kitchen. It doesn't matter what restaurant we're in...he finds the kitchen and makes a b-line for it every time.

While I was struggling with my dine-and-dasher, I met a very lovely couple with a little girl who was about Cash's age. Her name was Chloe...a petite little lady with curly red hair and giant blue eyes. Chloe sat perfectly still in her highchair, daintily eating her finger foods. Chloe's nice parents gave me very sympathetic looks each time I ran past them (it was at least eight times) to retrieve my son. They tried not to look in horror as he picked up a piece of food from under THEIR table and ate it.

I have no interest in trying to teach him restaurant manners anytime soon. We will simply refrain from taking him out until he is at least 10.

The Zoo

Cash and I found ourselves with a free afternoon (a rarity) so we hightailed it to the zoo. He looooooves to make animal noises. He makes dog, cat, girraffe (???),tiger, and monkey (his favorite). It was just the two of us, and we had a blast. Mom actually got a little exercise too.
